Wedding Day Make-up Tips
Your wedding day make-up should enhance all your beautiful facial features, along with complimenting your hair, dress and accessories.
The aim is to look a more beautiful version of you, so avoid make-up overkill. You want to be recognisable to yourself and to your guests.
The products you use are very important, as your make-up will be disturbed throughout the day.
Unless you are extremely good at applying your own make-up, my advice is to hire a professional make-up artist. Also, have a trail before hand to ensure you achieve the look you want.
Having a trail also gives you the opportunity to test your make-up staying power. Leave it on for the whole day and evening and see how you look at the end of it. It’ll give you an idea of how many touch ups you might need.
If you’re opting to do your own make-up, why not head down to a professional make-up stands such as Mac, Armani or Bobbi Brown. For a fee, which is redeemable against their products, they will help and show you how to get that perfect wedding look. You can them redeem the cost against the products you will use on the actual day.
Foundation
It’s a good idea to apply some moisturizer about twenty minutes before you start to apply your makeup. This will help to reduce slide.
Use an oil based concealer under your eyes if you’re anticipating on crying a little.
Be sure to wear the correct shade of foundation. Apply it to your jaw line and look at it in direct daylight. The colour should blend in your skin and look like it has disappeared.
For extra staying power, complete your foundation with face powder.
Cheeks
A powder based blush will last longer than cream based one.
Eyes
Pluck your eyebrows a few days before the wedding to avoid any redness on the day
To give you a softer more natural look, use an eye shadow base or primer underneath your eye colour and then applying a neutral shade over the eye.
Apply two coats of waterproof mascara. Let each coat dry for a few seconds before applying the next layer. Leave your lower lashes clean if you think you might do some crying.
Lips
Use a colour that looks good with your hair and eye colour and use lip liner in the same colour family.
Use a matte or longwearing lipstick because you don’t want to be constantly reapplying your makeup during the day.
Layer lip products, such as primer, balm, or lacquer to help to make the lipstick stay on.
Apply your lipstick with a lip brush. First one layer of lipstick, blot with a tissue, and apply the second layer.
Remember that your make-up is part of bringing together the overall look. It’s important to invest time and money into getting it right.
